The Alliance for Finance is an independent confederation of trade unions, employee representative bodies and staff associations. Our member organisations represent over 200,000 people working the in the UK financial services industry across all areas from front line banking to investment banking, insurance and wealth management. The Alliance was formed in 1996 by a partnership between a number of trade unions, employee representative organisations and staff associations that are active within the UK financial services industry. The Alliance was formed as a result of growing co-operation between the Confederation of Insurance Trade Unions and finance sector unions such as Unifi and MSF (now both part of Unite) with the following aims;
- A consistent approach to lobbying Government on issues affecting financial services industry workers.
- Organise conferences and seminars to bring together member organisations and other social partners.
- Work closely with the TUC in developing policies in respect of the financial services industry.
- Bring together member organisations, employer organisations and other stakeholders such as consumer groups to work in partnership.
- Provide a network of support for representatives of member organisations to share ideas and concerns in a progressive manner.
- Provide support to smaller staff associations and employee representative organisations to network and work alongside larger national trade unions and other member organisations.
