What we do

The Alliance for Finance prides itself on being non-bureaucratic, and is largely a non-profit making organisation, run and operated by our member organisations. The Alliance for Finance plays a number of roles in partnership with our member organisations representing the interests of all our member organisation's members within the UK financial services industry.

Lobbying

Our member organisations represent over 200,000 people working in the UK financial services industry and combined under the auspices of the Alliance for Finance, together we are a more powerful and influential lobbying organisation. The Alliance holds regular activities to lobby government, employers, regulators and other bodies, which all our member organisations and affiliates can become involved in.

Consultation

The combined views of all our member organisations are submitted to both regulators and government via consultation documents. Through a consistent approach incorporating the views of a diverse industry represented by our membership, we can effectively shape the future of the industry.

Information Exchange

The Alliance is built on a non-bureaucratic structure, and is largely a self organised network. In order to facilitate an exchange of information between member organisations, ensuring that the interests of people working in the financial services industry are protected, the Alliance produces a regular newsletter and facilitates an online forum, for representatives of our member organisations to share problems and ideas, as well as information on best practice within the industry.

Communication

The Alliance for Finance produces a regular newsletter in which member organisations are invited to contribute items for publication, highlighting their own experiences, or issues within the financial services industry affecting their members. The newsletter will also contain information about events being held by the Alliance as well as other relevant events, and updates in the field of employee relations.

Meetings

The Alliance holds a number of plenary meetings each year designed to bring together representatives from across our member organisations. These meetings are designed to facilitate an open discussion on topical issues affecting people working in the financial services industry, ranging from changes in regulation, employment law and lifelong learning.

The Alliance for Finance arranges these meetings in order for representatives from our member organisations to discuss issues affecting their members and gain perspectives from a range of speakers such as regulators, legislators, government bodies, employer organisations and consumer groups.

Conferences

The Alliance for Finance holds a conference each year. The Annual Conference much like the regular plenary meetings is designed to allow an open dialogue discussing topical issues affecting individual members of our member organisations.

In order to build dialogue between trade unions, employee organisations end employers and other stakeholders in the industry. Conferences are open to anyone from the industry who wishes to attend.

As with our plenary meetings, our Annual Conference enables an open discussion from a range of perspectives. Previous Conferences have been addressed by General Secretaries of trade unions, to Chief Executives of financial services companies, Regulators and Government Ministers.

Our member organisations and affiliates all receive discounts on delegate fees for Conferences.
